About
The first step of therapy is making a courageous choice to reach out.
When you come to the office, you’ll notice that it’s cozy and inviting.
You get to choose where you sit. Coffee is also provided.
There will not be an attempt to analyze you . . . because you are one of a kind.
We will be there together because you had the courage to know that things can improve.
Embrace the challenge that leads to transformation!
Therapy will bring out your inner strengths and prepare to you to function at a higher level and develop coping skills.
There will be a series of small breakthroughs, moments of clarity, life-changing “Ah-Ha’s,” and deeper understandings.
The process will get you in touch with who you are.
Therapy is meant to restore life—not an endless parade of questions about how you feel.
More than one client said, “I’ve never told this to anyone.” With those words the veils are pushed aside—the darkness loses its power.
Often the answers you seek were there all along—buried within you.
I will be your guide to help see things in a different perspective.
We will set goals and assessments will be conducted throughout the process.
Nothing is dictated: You set the pace and decide the length. It is adapted for you.
Therapy is an interactive relationship where you are not alone, and fears are confronted and shoved aside.
You will not be alone.
It may seem difficult, but you will not be alone. Change takes work and you will be guided.
We all have childhood memories (and some are relevant), but you need to live in the now and prepare for the future.
Together we will explore what are the best choices for you.
Therapy does have an end point, and bright new days await…
About Me
My mission in life is connecting to people to learn who they are, what they can do, and who they will become.
I started with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from Washburn University. I then studied theology in Steubenville, Ohio, which led me to teach at a junior high school in Texas for seven years.
I came back to my Kansas roots and earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree with an emphasis on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).
I have done a great deal of therapy in homes working with adolescents and young adults. I have also worked with families in a variety of settings.
I also perform emergency room assessments on an on-call bases at a Kansas City hospital.
On request, I will bring my puppy, a miniature schnauzer, who is a therapy-dog-in-training named Wishes.
